Wild Cucumber

  • The Indian people would crush it and throw it in a creek to stupefy fish. Then they would catch them at the riffle as they washed downstream. http://ernielb.blogspot.ca/2010/05/wild-cucumber.html
  • It grows from a large woody or fleshy underground root weighing as much as 100lbs.  It is because of this root that it is sometimes called manroot, and also that it is one of the first plants to reseed after a fire.  http://www.calflora.net/bloomingplants/wildcucumber.html
